Skillz is a dynamic and versatile South African music producer and DJ whose sound continues to shape the evolution of modern African music. Known for blending emotion, rhythm, and innovation across multiple genres, he has built a reputation as one of the most adaptable producers in the game today.

His journey into music began at just 14 years old after his mother bought him computer, a moment that would change the course of his life. With no formal training, he taught himself the art of music production, spending countless hours creating the versatility he has across different genres comfortably producing music across R&B, Hip Hop, House, Afro House, Afro Tech, Gqom and 3 Step, thus giving him the ability to move between genres while maintaining a unique signature sound.

His rise to mainstream recognition came through the explosive Gqom movement, particularly after collaborating with Mampintsha on the 2019 album “Bhut’ Madlisa”. The project became a cultural phenomenon and helped cement his place among the country’s top producers. It gave rise to his famous tag  “ Ungasagundi ke baba, Aw wenzu doti e Durban eJoburg”. Around the same period, he also contributed to the success of Babes Wodumo’s hit track  eLamont, further showcasing his impact on the genre.

Never one to stay boxed into a single sound, Producer Skillz has recently found a new creative passion in the growing Three Step movement. Embracing the genre’s soulful and futuristic elements, he has already delivered standout records including “Mamma” featuring Zee Nxumalo and “Phumelela” with Simmy & Zeh McGeba songs that continue to resonate with audiences and demonstrate his evolving artistry.

With a career rooted in self-belief, innovation, and musical freedom, Skillz remains a powerful force in music, constantly pushing boundaries while staying true to his sound.
